Methods of Assessment

Professional Certificate
(New Syllabus from September 2008)

The first Module Marketing Essentials will be assessed by means of a three hour exam.
The second module Assessing the Marketing Environment will be assessed by means of a one and a half hour exam and a computer based test
The third and fourth modules Marketing Research and Information and Stakeholder Marketing will be assessed by means of work based projects
All of these assessments will be marked by CIM.

Professional Diploma

The first three modules, Marketing Planning, Marketing Research and Information and Marketing Communications, require students to produce three pieces of written work: one compulsory 'core' assignment and two other from a choice of four topics.

These pieces of work are marked firstly by your tutor, then they are second marked by tutors from another college with whom MET has a working arrangement. Finally the marked assignments are sent to CIM for moderation.

The last module, Marketing Management in Practice, is not marked internally but is sent to CIM where it is marked in the same way as examination papers.

Professional Post Graduate Diploma

The first two modules Analysis and Evaluation and Strategic Marketing Decisions are both assessed by means of three hour examinations

The Third module Managing Marketing Performance is assessed by means of an extended project.

The final Module Strategic Marketing in Practice (the Case Study) is assessed by means of a prepared Case Study and three hour examination

When to enrol with MET for a CIM Professional Diploma course

There are two assessment times…in June and in December each year. This means that your assignments must be completed by the end of May and the beginning of December. These dates put constraints on your study schedules which will be arranged around these dates.

  • The timing of the courses is dictated
    by the CIM assessment dates

  • CIM assessments take place in June and December each year
  • There are FOUR modules
  • Each module takes approximately
    10- 12 weeks to complete
